WESTLIFE

Farewell To Ireland show sells out in
record breaking time

Extra Date Added Due To Phenomenal Demand
Croke Park - Friday 22nd June 2012

When Westlife played their legendary sold-out show at Croke Park, Dublin in June 2008 it was their biggest show ever and was a landmark moment in their career.  Croke Park is set to hold even more amazing memories for the guys as this morning it was announced that their 82,300 capacity show to be held there on June 23rd sold out in a record-breaking 5 minutes!

The show (their last ever in their home country of Ireland) comes following news of the band’s recent announcement that they would be splitting up.  Fans desperate to be part of what will be an historic and deeply emotional moment in the band’s 14-year journey flooded official ticket sites and phone lines, resulting in all tickets being snapped up within 5 minutes of going on sale.

Due to this outstanding demand they have added an extra date at Croke Park on Friday 22nd June 2012, in order to give fans an additional chance to attend one of their last shows.  Tickets for this newly added date will go-sale on Friday 18th November.

The band said this morning on hearing the news, “We are absolutely blown away with the news that this show sold out in just 5 minutes! Croke Park already holds some very special memories for us, but these new dates are sure to be some of the most special that we have played.  We are pleased to be announcing this second date so that more fans can be part of this Irish finale - it is set to be an amazing ending for our home country to what has been an incredible 14 years.  We look forward to seeing you all there.”

Westlife have enjoyed a pop career that others can only dream of; 14 years, 26 top ten hits including 14 number one singles, 11 top 5 albums, 7 of which hit the top spot and have collectively sold over 44 million copies around the world, and 10 sell out tours.

Their Greatest Hits album is released on 21st November, so fans will be able to re-indulge in the hits that have kept the band at the top of the charts for so many years, all in anticipation of the much-awaited Farewell Tour, which hits the road in May.
