Single Review: WILL.I.AM - T.H.E (The Hardest Ever) - Out 6th February

Multi-platinum producer and founder of the stupidly successful ‘Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am releases his new single ‘T.H.E’ on 6th February. Featuring the legendary Mick Jagger and Jennifer Lopez there can be no doubt airways will be buzzing with this track, if not from excitement just from plain curiosity as to how you can throw three unique artists in together and expect it to work.
I’m not entirely sure it does work…. – what we get is a mixture of pop/rock and hip-hop over a catchy distorted bass riff. The track begins with Lopez singing the main phrase “You can go hard or you can go home” giving it a very R&B flavor before it explodes into the main riff and solo rap from will.i.am himself. Even Mick Jagger tries his hand at rapping, and yet even with these big names behind it I never really get the feeling it takes off.
This track his the lead single from will.i.am’s new solo album #willpower that is set to be released later this year. It will most likely be well received but the rocker inside of me was desperate for just a bit more Jagger in it…
