Dancing in Hope Street!

Experience the energy, emotion and electricity of Motown with Dancing in the Streets, a spectacular celebration of the music that came from the heart of Detroit!

After wowing audiences for three years in the West End, Ivor Novello award-winning director Keith Strachan now takes this hit show on tour!

Made famous by such legendary artists as The Four Tops, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, The Commodores, Lionel Richie, The Supremes and Smokey Robinson, Motown broke down barriers around the world whilst producing some of the most influential and enduring songs of the 20th Century. With a full supporting company of singers, dancers and an amazing live band, Dancing in the Streets re-creates the energy, style and music of all your favourite Motown stars! Motown was a prominent force in breaking down barriers around the world and equally as important, was responsible for producing some of the world's most influential and enduring songs of the 20th century.

In the early 1960s, in a town called Detroit, local kids were looking for a form of expression they could call their own. They found it at the Motown Hitsville studio. In 1959, Berry Gordy, a successful songwriter with his first big hit, Reet Petite with Detroit-born Jackie Wilson under his belt, decided to form his own record company and so, in a timber frame bungalow at 2648 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit, Tamla Motown Records was born. During the years that followed, black soul music started to reach a white audience and the rest, as they say, is history...

Dancing in the Streets will take you through the Motown repertoire, with classic hits including a selection of the following:

I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Baby Love, My Girl, Dancing in the Streets, Shop Around, I'll Be There, Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours, Please Mr Postman, Reach Out I'll Be There, Stop In the Name of Love, Up Tight (Everything's Alright), Tears of a Clown, Tracks of My Tears, made famous by artists including The Four Tops, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Commodores, Lionel Richie, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.
Dancing in the Streets celebrates the very best of the classic Motown chartbusters.
