ABF The Soldiers’ Charity in association with The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund are delighted to announce the exciting details of The British Military Tournament 2012, supported by The Boeing Company. Taking place at Earls Court, London, on December 8 and 9, The British Military Tournament will build on the phenomenal success of its last two years with a spectacular new show for 2012 telling the story of the life and times of Her Majesty The Queen.

The British Military Tournament is the biggest fundraising event in aid of the three national charities of the British Armed Forces.  Participants from all three armed forces make up this incredible show that raises much-needed funds to support the brave men and women of our Armed Forces as well as their families.

In this Diamond Jubilee year it is the perfect time to tell the story of the life and times of Her Majesty The Queen: the 2012 British Military Tournament will celebrate her unique place in British history. Starting with the events of 1926, the year of the Queen’s birth, the Tournament will follow the ensuing years through re-enactments, performances of military precision, words, music and state-of-the-art audiovisual in one of the most spectacular and unique theatrical productions of its kind.

The British Military Tournament 2012 is set to be the most breathtaking performance of military theatre and will be narrated live by acclaimed British actor Anthony Andrews.  The show also features contributions from Robert Lindsay, Penelope Keith and Dan Snow.

The show will include:

·      Over 600 participants including active combat servicemen plus musicians from the Royal Marines, Army, Royal Air Force, Territorial Army and UK Police Forces.
·      More than 150 horses including the iconic Musical Drive of the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery and the Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry, the Light Cavalry Honourable Artillery Company and the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars.
·      The bands of the Royal Marines, the Household Cavalry, the Royal Artillery and the Royal Air Force, the gymnasts of the Royal Navy performing their celebrated Window Ladder display and the Queen’s Colour Squadron of the Royal Air Force presenting its drill display.
·      The only chance to see the legendary Field Gun Run, featuring two crews from Wellington College battling it out in a dramatic, nail-biting contest over the walls and chasms of an unforgiving obstacle course.
·      For the first time since the year of The Queen’s birth, the horses of the Household Cavalry competing with the motorcycles of the Royal Signals’ White Helmets over an obstacle course that includes jumps and flaming hoops.
·      A battle re-enactment featuring the Royal Logistic Corps in a dramatic
bomb disposal in Afghanistan.
·      The largest massed bagpipe band seen at Earls Court since the Second World War.

In addition to the spectacular show the exhibition area at Earls Court will be an integral part of the British Military Tournament. Visitors will be able to enjoy a whole host of fun activities at the Armed Forces Activity Area, whilst a shopping area with a mix of retail and charity stands will have something on offer for all.  The exhibition also provides the opportunity to meet members of the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force and to have hands-on experience of some of the latest military kit.

Each day doors open two hours prior to performances to allow access to the exhibition area and a variety of concession stands.

Tickets are priced from £29.75 with concessions available for children and wheelchair users.
