Performers announced for the CLASSIC BRIT AWARDS 2012 including cast of Phantom Of The Opera

London, Tuesday 18 September 2012: The UK’s recorded music association, The BPI, today announced that Gary Barlow, Andrew Lloyd Webber, TheMilitary Wives Choir, Russell Watson, Amore, Milos Karadaglić and the cast of ThePhantom of the Opera are confirmed to perform at the Classic BRIT Awards 2012 with MasterCard. Taking place at the Royal Albert Hall on 2 October 2012, the spectacular line-up is set to make the thirteenth annual Classic BRIT Awards an unforgettable show.

The performance by Gary Barlow, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and The Military Wives Choir, conducted by Gareth Malone, will be a showstopper in a celebration of what has been an incredible year for Great Britain and the music that defined the Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympic Games. With Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber taking centre stage to play two grand pianos, they will perform their UK no.1 single ‘Sing’ with the Classic BRITs Single of the Year nominees, The Military Wives Choir.

Gary Barlow said: 'The Classic BRITs is something I've never done before, so I'm very excited to be a part of it. It'll be nice to get everyone back together for a performance of 'Sing' as we've only ever performed it once together live.'

Four times Classic BRIT Award winner Russell Watson has also confirmed that he will finally return to the Classic BRITs Awards stage following his devastating cancellation the night before last year’s show due to ill health. This will be a very special night for the Lancashire tenor who has been nominated for Classic FM Album of the Year in association with MasterCard for his release ‘Anthems’. This is Russell’s eighth Classic BRIT award nomination. Following their exceptional performance at the launch Amore have also been confirmed to join Russell Watson on stage.

Milos Karadaglić the critically acclaimed Montenegrin classical guitarist will make his Classic BRIT Awards performance debut. It was announced last Thursday that Milos is nominated for Classic FM Album of theYear in association with MasterCard for his release ‘The Guitar’ with a second nomination for his album ‘Latino’ in the MasterCard’s Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award category.

Following the incredible rousing performance by the cast of Les Miserables at the Classic BRIT Awards 2011, the event continues to embrace musical theatre and the Classic BRIT Awards 2012 have confirmed that the cast of Phantom of the Opera will perform a special arrangement from this phenomenal musical success with soloists Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess.

Previously announced performers André Rieu, Nicola Benedetti and Andrea Bocelli will join these astounding artists for what will surely be one of the most remarkable shows in the Awards history.

Taking place on 2 October at the Royal Albert Hall, The Classic BRIT Awards 2012 will be hosted by Myleene Klass. Hollywood legend John Williams is this year’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award. This will be celebrated by a visual and audio spectacular performed by the London Chamber Orchestra conducted by James Morgan. The orchestra will present a montage of John Williams’ towering body of film score epics such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jaws, Indiana Jones, Superman, ET and Close Encounters of theThird Kind.

The Classic BRIT Awards plays a major role in supporting and nurturing talent in both the core and crossover classical world. The event was established in 2000 to honour and recognise all forms of classical music from contemporary to crossover, opera to soundtracks, traditional to theatre and has continued to evolve as classical music has once again become a major seller in the music world.

The Classic BRIT Awards 2012 with MasterCard will be broadcast on ITV1 on Sunday 7th October on ITV1.

* Classic FM Album of the Year in association with MasterCard has an eligibility period of 18 months due to the fact that the Classic BRIT Awards 2011 took place in May 2011. Voting ends at 6:00pm on Friday 21 September.
