Theatre Review: Legally Blonde (UK Tour) - New Wimbledon Theatre ✭✭✭✭

Legally  Blonde

New Wimbledon Theatre

They say all good things come to an end, and with its final two weeks of an extensive UK tour culminating in Wimbledon, Legally Blonde is going out on a high.

The show still has that immense feel-good factor - I've never seen so many audience members leave a theatre with a huge smile on their face and a buzz of excitement about them.

If you haven't seen this before, heres a quick brief: Elle Woods (played delightfully by Faye Brookes) can handle anything. So when her boyfriend, Warner (Gareth Gates), dumps her she decides to follow him to Harvard Law School and win him back. With some help from new-found friends Paulette (Jennifer Ellison), Emmett (the wonderful Iwan Lewis) and her chihuahua Bruiser, she learns that it’s so much better to be smart.

The casting works a treat for this leg of the tour, Iwan Lewis especially showing a warm charismatic charm as Emmett opposite Faye Brookes' enigmatic and perky Elle Woods. Hannah Grover is also in fine form as Brooke Wyndham. The ensemble mould together nicely, and the band are sounding good in the pit.

This is one of those shows you can enjoy again and again. I hope you get to see it soon if it travels again.
