BONNIE RAITT announces 2013 'Slipstream' tour

BONNIE RAITT

SLIPSTREAM TOUR 2013 ANNOUNCED
NEW ALBUM 'SLIPSTREAM’ (PROPER) OUT NOW

Bonnie Raitt has announced the UK leg of her Slipstream Tour 2013. In April 2012, Bonnie released her first new album in seven years ‘Slipstream’ to widespread acclaim. Now, in summer 2013, she will bring her daring bluesy sound, steeped with inimitable slide guitar and soulful vocals, to the UK for much anticipated live shows. Bonnie Raitt tickets go on-sale 9am on Friday 26th October and are available from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.

After an emotional period, with such triumphs as her 2005 release and tour for ‘Souls Alike,’ and 2009 national tour with fellow blues legend Taj Mahal alongside the tragedy of losing her parents, her brother, and her best friend, Raitt decided to step back. “I took a hiatus from touring and recording to get back in touch with the other part of my life,” Raitt says of her decision to recharge her spirit and regain her personal balance before returning to action.

There’s no doubt that Raitt is re-energized. 'Slipstream' marked her biggest chart debut in the United States in two decades and is one of the top 5-selling independent albums of the year.  She is also wrapping up an 80-date North American tour this month, which included more than 40 sold out shows and rave reviews:

"Evokes the warm amber and light grain of crystallized honey… gripping." – New York Times
"Tight and polished" – Rolling Stone
"Masterful… Raitt really brought the crowd alive." – Hollywood Reporter
"Emotionally searing… impassioned, heart-wrenching vocal" – Variety
"Exquisite… pulling the audience closer" – Chicago Tribune

Yahoo! Music proclaimed "the hippest thing an artist can do these days is cover Bonnie Raitt," and since her last release, she has become a touchstone for young artists. Adele released a cover of "I Can't Make You Love Me" last year and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon called her "one of our greatest" artists during his medley of "I Can't Make You Love Me" and "Nick of Time" on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.  Katie Perry even incorporated "I Can't Make You Love Me" recently into her live show.

Rolling Stone affirmed Raitt's impact, highlighting the "sheer verve and skill" that made her one of only two women among the "100 Greatest Guitarists" in their latest issue, having already established her one of the top "100 Greatest Singers" of all time.

The title ‘Slipstream’ is very significant for Raitt, who notes: "I'm so inspired and so proud to continue these traditions, whether it's reggae or soul or blues.  I'm in the slipstream of those who came before me, and I'm leaving one for those behind me."

Bonnie Raitt is an institution in American music – a nine-time GRAMMY-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee with tens of millions of albums sold worldwide, she has undeniably changed the landscape of soul, rock, and blues. She is also a passionate activist and supporter of causes ranging from the anti-nuclear movement to youth music programs.

Raitt's last tour of the UK was well received in 2006 and she looks forward to her return in June 2013.
