Gig Review: Kelly Clarkson - Wembley Arena ✭✭✭✭

Kelly Clarkson
Wembley Arena

Saturday 20th October: The last few times I have been to Wembley Arena it has been raining, however the weather didn’t put a dampener on the night at all, everyone was in high spirits, clearly excited to see Kelly Clarkson.

Since bursting onto the music scene 10 years ago, Kelly Clarkson has released five studio albums (Thankful, Breakaway, My December, All I Ever Wanted and Stronger), sold over 20 million albums worldwide, had seven top ten singles in the UK and has sold over 3.5 million units in the UK alone.

Before Kelly hit the stage the four piece Barbadian band Cover Drive took to the stage to perform. The set had songs from their album Bajan Style and they finished with their number one single ‘Twilight’.

Kelly hit the stage with the song ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ to get the night started, then straight in to ‘Behind These Hazel Eyes’ and ‘I Forgive You’. Kelly went on to say how much she loved our country and that tonight was the last show in the tour, “bitter sweet”.

She did a cover of ‘We Are Young’ from the American band Fun, a great cover. During the song Kelly walked from the stage, around the audience to the middle of the arena to sing. An added treat for fans, Kelly takes requests from her fans; the requests have been made online, Kelly says it’s a unique way of making the show a bit different. The cover was Patty Griffin’s ‘When It Don’t Come Easy’, which included two of her friends.

One of my favourite songs of the night had to be ‘Because Of You’ which is from the album Breakaway, with her amazing vocal range and emotion in her voice this song was simply performed beautifully.

There is something amazing about the way Kelly sings, she has this amazing gift to make you feel every word she is saying. The songs are incredibly written, looking around the crowd you can tell that people have loved every minute of her career and each song has a memory.

Kelly ended the night on a four song encore; ‘Never Again’, ‘Mr. Know It All’, ‘Miss Independent’ and ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’. A night filled with amazing singing and great performances. Kelly Clarkson will be releasing her greatest hits soon and if you are a fan of her and her songs, I reckon it’s definitely going to be an album to buy.
