Les Misérables Deluxe Edition to be released March 18th

“THE MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK”
DELUXE EDITION FEATURING AN ADDITIONAL 22 TRACKS
TO BE RELEASED MARCH 18 2013

Fans of the film adaptation of Les Misérables and its soundtrack of highlights may look forward to furthering their enjoyment as it was announced today that the expanded deluxe soundtrack is released on March 18th. The deluxe two-disc package includes an additional 22 tracks, previously unseen photos from the film set and additional liner notes.

Academy Award®-winning director Tom Hooper’s acclaimed epic masterpiece has smashed box-office records and made headlines around the world. The film has already scooped three Golden Globe Awards and at the recent BAFTAs it came away with the most honours on the night, winning four awards. It is nominated for eight Academy Awards®- including Best Original Song for “Suddenly”, performed by Hugh Jackman. The album of “Highlights from the Motion Picture Soundtrack” is enjoying the same phenomenal success with audiences keen to relive their experience of the film. On release in the UK, the album shot straight to No.1 in the Official UK Charts, making it the first time in more than 15 years that a motion picture soundtrack has topped the artist chart –  the last being “Evita” in 1997 - and has become the fastest-selling album in the UK this year. Sales in the UK are now at Platinum status within just  5 weeks of release. With sales of more than a million, the soundtrack has landed on the top spot in 22 countries. In the U.S. it went straight to No.1 on the Billboard album chart - the first adapted-from-a-stage-musical movie soundtrack to climb this high since “Mamma Mia!” in 2008 – and is currently the one of the biggest-selling albums of the year in the U.S., having already achieved Gold status.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh said, “As post-production on the Les Misérables film was extremely tight, with recording of the orchestra, final edit and sound mix having to be completed in only a few weeks from early October to mid-November to achieve the first screenings, there was only enough time to remix a limited number of tracks so that at least a highlights album could be released for the fans before Christmas. We are delighted with the success of that album and very pleased that we can now add 22 more tracks so that audiences can now enjoy at home a full representation of the film’s powerful and emotional version of this great score.”

The deluxe edition will be available in physical and digital formats. For those who have bought the original highlights album, they may complete their collection by purchasing the new tracks individually.

This cultural phenomenon has gripped the millions who have flocked to see the musical epic, and the ever-lasting themes of unrequited love, passion, sacrifice, broken dreams and redemption resonate anew. Boublil and Schonberg’s incredible musical with lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer has a unique impact when sung live on set by the international superstar cast, led by Hugh Jackman, Academy Award®-winner Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway. The Working Title/Cameron Mackintosh production also stars Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit and Samantha Barks, with Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
