Well hello possums! Dame Edna, one of the greatest stars of the last 50 years, is coming to the King’s Theatre from Tuesday 11 – Saturday 15 February 2014.
EAT PRAY LAUGH! will give audiences across the country the chance to bid farewell to Humphries, arguably Australia’s greatest entertainment export, and his unforgettable characters: the Honorable Sir Les Patterson, Sandy Stone and, of course, the iconicDame Edna Everage.
Act One of Eat Pray Laugh! features gentle, grandfatherly Sandy Stone and the inebriated cultural attaché Sir Les Patterson - this serves as “just a bit of foreplay really before I make an orgasmic appearance in Act Two”, Dame Edna says!
Surrounded by spectacular sets and dancers, Dame Edna promises to “empower” audiences as she meditates on the big issues of gender, ethnicity and climate change.
This brand new show is directed by award-winning Australian theatre director Simon Phillips, who directed the originalPriscilla Queen of the Desert, with design by Tony Award-winning Brian Thomson, who designed the original Australian and London productions ofJesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show, as well as the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympic Games.
