JENNY ECLAIR joins the cast of ALADDIN at New Wimbledon Theatre while Jo Brand makes a Splash!

New Wimbledon Theatre and First Family Entertainment are delighted to announce comedian, novelist and actor Jenny Eclair to star as Genie of the Ring for four performances of Aladdin at New Wimbledon Theatre. The critically acclaimed production of Aladdin has won rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and Jenny will be taking over Jo Brand’s role of Genie of the Ring while Jo is thrilled to be back judging the new series of Splash! which starts on ITV1 on Saturday 4 January.
Jenny is  joined by the exhilarating Flawless as the Peking Police Force, and Olivier Award winning actor and television presenter Matthew Kelly who has been noted as “Dame of the season” by Time Out for his role as Widow Twankey. They are joined by two renowned West End Musical Theatre stars; Oliver Thornton (Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, Starlight Express, The Rocky Horror Show) as Aladdin, and Olivier Award winning actor David Bedella (Jerry Springer – The Opera, The Rocky Horror Show) as Abanazar.

Jenny Eclair is renowned for being a stand up comic and a regular on many TV series. TV credits include, Grumpy Old Women, Grumpy Holidays and It’s Grim Up North as well as a regular panelist, on Loose Women. Jenny has many theatre credits to her name to and she made her pantomime debut as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella at Richmond Theatre in 2011. Her biggest hit to date has been co-writing  and starring in Grumpy Old Women Live and Grumpy Old Women Live: 2 Chin Up Britain, which enjoyed an 8 week West End run at the Novello Theatre last spring. Jenny has also recently completed a UK tour with her stand up show Eclairious and 2014 will see the highly anticipated return of the Grumpy Old Women with their brand new live show 50 Shades of Beige.

Aladdin is a magical carpet ride of a pantomime guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.  Rub the magic lamp, enter the cave of wonders and be transported to this fun fairytale world.  With stunning sets, glittering costumes, wonderful songs and dazzling dancing that audiences have come to expect from our pantomime – topped off with laughter and audience participation aplenty!
