Smash hit new musical 20TH CENTURY BOY heads to New Wimbledon Theatre next week

The smash hit new musical 20th Century Boy, based on glam rock legend Marc Bolan will be in London at New Wimbledon Theatre for one week only from Mon 23 – Sat 28 June.

West End and Musical theatre star Warren Sollars (Mamma Mia!, From Here To Eternity) will lead the cast, playing the Glam Rock legend Marc Bolan. He will be joined by TV stars Sue Jenkins (Brookside, Coronation Street) and Luke Bailey (Waterloo Road, Casualty). Completing the cast are Jade Albertson, Matthew Ashcroft, Lakesha Cammock, Andy Coxon, Llandyl Gove, Nathan Graham, Donna Hines, Christopher Hunt, Peter Manchester, Chris Milford, Katia Sartini, Steve Simmonds, Lucy Sinclair and Naomi Slights.

20th Century Boy is directed and choreographed by Gary Lloyd (Thriller Live, Fame), written by Peter Rowe in association with Gary Lloyd, with music and lyrics by original glam rocker Marc Bolan. Designs are by Diego Pitarch, lighting by Ben Cracknell, sound by Chris Whybrow, musical supervision and arrangement by John Maher, video design by Will Duke, and casting by Anne Vosser. 20th Century Boy is produced by Bolanic Productions.

20th Century Boy is the culmination of five years’ development and is based on an original idea by Brian Dunham, Colin Giffin and Nicky Graham. The original production had highly successful and critically acclaimed runs at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich in September 2011 and the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry in September 2012. This new production will tour throughout the UK from April 2014 and showcases 24 of Marc Bolan and T.Rex’s best-known iconic hits including Ride A White Swan, I Love To Boogie and Get It On.

Marc is still very loved by a whole generation of fans and I really hope this piece will open up some of his greatest hits to a whole new generation. I hope the UK are ready to don their feather boas, rock out in their 70's heels and Get It On!"

Warren Sollars’ most recent stage credits includes Tim Rice’s new musical From Here To Eternity at the Shaftesbury Theatre, Mamma Mia at the Prince Of Wales Theatre, Our House at Birmingham Rep/UK Tour, Kiss Me Kate at Chichester Festival Theatre/The Old Vic, The Reduced Shakespeare Company’s All The Great Books in London and Dubai and Everyone Loves A Winner at the Manchester Royal Exchange. Warren’s screen credits include The Frame and Musicality.

Sue Jenkins is best known for her screen/TV roles as Jackie Corkhill in Brookside and Gloria Todd in Coronation Street. Her additional screen credits include, How We Used To Live, The Beiderbecke Affair, Merseybeat, In Deep, Heartbeat, The Royal, Doctors, The Girls Who Came To Stay, Holby City, Casualty, Ingenious, Grownups, Dalziel & Pascoe, Midsomer Murders, Coasting and Being Eileen. Sue’s previous stage credits include The Vagina Monologues on National Tour, The Price at The Library Theatre, Manchester, Maybe Tomorrow at the Manchester Royal Exchange, Educating Rita at the Leeds Playhouse, and The People are Friendly at the Royal Court.

Luke Bailey is well known for playing comprehensive school pupil Marley Kelly in Waterloo Road and Sam Bateman in the long-running medical drama series Casualty. Luke’s other screen credits include Scallywagga, Moving On – The Butterfly Effect, Waking The Dead, Blue Murder, U-Get-Me, Illustrated Mum, Nine Lives and Spin.

Jade Albertson’s stage credits include 42nd Street at the Leicester Curve Theatre, Loserville at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and Garrick Theatre, and Thriller Live at the Lyric Theatre. Jade’s screen credits as a dancer include The X Factor, and Brit Awards. 

Matthew Ashcroft’s stage credits include the original run of 20th Century Boy at the New Wolsey Theatre and Belgrade Theatre, A Cool Million at the Gielgud Theatre, The Fastest Clock In The Universe at the Battersea Arts Centre, Ghosts at the Duchess Theatre, Edmond at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket and Buddy on UK Tour. 

Lakesha Cammock’s stage credits include The Color Purple at the Menier Chocolate Factory, High School Musical and Fame, both at the Beck Theatre, Rent at the Bridewell Theatre, Hair on UK Tour and Peter Pan at the Manchester Opera House. Lakesha’s screen credits include Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. 

Andy Coxon’s stage credits include Les Misérables at the Queens Theatre, The Rocky Horror Show on European Tour, Evita on UK and European Tour and Another Way at the Cockpit Theatre. Andy’s screen credits include Tom Hooper’s film version of Les Miserables. 

Llandyl Gove’s stage credits include Aladdin at the Cork Opera House, Dancing Queen on UK Tour, Grease at the Cork Opera House and UK Tour, The Queen’s 80th Birthday Celebration at Balmoral Castle and Beauty and the Beast and Snow White both at Glasgow’s SECC. 

Nathan Graham made his stage debut in Loserville at the Garrick Theatre. Nathan’s screen credits as a dancer include The X Factor, Brit Awards and the Royal Variety Show.

Donna Hines’ stage credits include 20th Century Boy at the New Wolsey Theatre and Belgrade Theatre, Dancing In The Streets on UK Tour, The Blues Brothers Revival at the Tivoli Theatre, Dublin and Little Shop of Horrors on UK Tour. 

Christopher Hunt’s stage credits include The Sound of Music at the Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park, Batman Live on World Arena Tour, The Lord Of The Rings at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Zorro The Musical at the Garrick Theatre, Jersey Boys at the Prince Edward Theatre, Evita on International Tour, Three Musketeers at The Rose Theatre, Kingston and Stiles and Drewe’s Peter Pan at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. 

Peter Manchester’s stage credits include 20th Century Boy at the New Wolsey Theatre, The Recruiting Officer at the Donmar Warehouse, Les Misérables on UK Tour, The Royal Variety Performance, the Classical Brit Awards and the 25th Anniversary O2 concert and Coco at the Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadler’s Wells. Peter’s screen credits include Without You and Muppets Again. 

Chris Milford’s stage credits include Legally Blonde on UK Tour, Hot Stuff at Leicester Curve Theatre, The Hired Man at the Bolton Octagon, Mamma Mia! on International Tour, High School Musical at the Hammersmith Apollo and UK Tour and Oliver! at the London Palladium.
