Dave Spikey
Words Don't Come Easy Tour
Leicester Square Theatre
Review by Christina Benneworth
Friday 1st November 2013: The comic Dave Spikey brings his
tour to London and stops in Leicester Square to talk about the words we use
everyday. Dave Spikey knows how to make an audience laugh and I was laughing
the whole way through the night.
With stories of his youth, tales
of his eccentric grandmother, anecdotes about 'blobbers' and a sausage &
bean bake from Greggs, theres stories here to keep you laughing through the night.
Dave has a gift of telling
stories, delivering the jokes perfectly on time and if the audience are
wavering a bit he knows how to pick it up straight away, a true master of
comedy.
It is great to hear funny things
about the everyday language and everything that was said was so true even if
you had never thought it yourself. My highlight was when Dave goes
through some classic songs and picks out some of the worst uses of the english
language. Songs you've heard so many times before, but might not have even paid
attention to the lyrics. Hilarious.
A generally funny evening. You
know when you've been to watch a funny comedian, as you're cheeks tend to hurt
at the end, mine definitely did. I recommend seeing Dave Spikey if you love
good comedy, no explicit humour, just good general fun... Great night, it wasn't
long enough, I wanted more.
