New musical drama ROLL ON THE DAY to get premiere at London's Etcetera Theatre from 27th March

Roll On The Day

The A STAGE KINDLY New Musical Theatre Initiative in association with Knockhardy Productions are pleased to announce that an exciting musical drama by Laurence Mark Wythe (composer and lyrics) and Roberto Trippini (book and lyrics) will have its premiere at the Etcetera Theatre, London in March/April 2012.

Roll On The Day is a darkly comedic musical thriller that revolves around an illegal immigrant trying to make an honest living as a street artist in London. Cherishing his past as a political activist back in his native Nigeria, he is befriended by a chummy wideboy and transfixed by a swanky, art-loving Mayfair socialite. What begins as a genteel urban fairy tale quickly turns into a sting-within-a-sting caper of tender feelings, lofty ideals and shameless betrayal – with music to match. Melodies that range from the epic and evocative to the brash and unsettling will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

The Director for Roll On The Day will be Vik Sivalingam (RSC); Musical Direction is by Tom Turner (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas – Union Theatre); the show’s Designer will be Marie Kearney (Little Pieces of Gold – Etcetera Theatre).

The cast for Roll On The Day is confirmed; Amersackie Osakanor will now be creating the role of Eko, Kendra McMillan as Lavinia, with Sean Keating as Dan. The trio have entered rehearsals with the first preview fast approaching on Tuesday 27th March.

“It was almost curtains for our revolutionary new musical, but we found our leading man Amersackie Osakanor at the eleventh hour" says Giles Howe, Artistic Director of the A STAGE KINDLY New Musical Theatre Initiative. "Amersackie is a terrific performer and we are delighted with the sterling, international cast we have assembled".
