Comedy Review: Sean Lock - Hammersmith Apollo ✭✭✭✭

Sean Lock
Hammersmith Apollo

29th September 2013: There aren't many comedians who do three nights at Hammersmith Apollo, but it's clear to see why award winning comedian Sean Lock has a huge following.

Sean is a regular on 8 out of 10 Cats amongst many other TV shows, and it's good to see him in a non-panel show environment. He is one of these comedians who observes things at long length, starts off a funny story about something and then completely goes off on a tangent to something else, but still somehow manages to get a link in. Sean is very opinionated about some people, of which he is happy to delve into - a hugely funny moment is when he describes what Ed Miliband looks like, I'm not going to give the gag away, in case you go and see the show. He has a dig about reality TV too, for instance if you don't laugh at any of his routine on stage tonight, then he will probably end up on Strictly Come Dancing next year!

Physical comedy is also one of Sean's strong points, running around the stage at times had me fits of laughter - again I can't reveal too much but lets just say he horses around a bit which will crease you up with laughter too.

Stories about his kids, his wife, religion, being down the pub talking about unusual subjects like 'How long could we live if we only ate toffee apples?' are just some of the many stirrings on offer from Sean's Purple Van Man tour.

The crowd on Sunday were loving it, and I was too. It's not dirty humour, and there is very little swearing... a recipe for a good laugh and a good night out.
