Three times as much fun in CINDERELLA this year at Theatre Royal Stratford East

CINDERELLA
Theatre Royal Stratford East

Theatre Royal Stratford East’s Cinderella will be performed from Saturday 3 December 2011 – Saturday 21 January 2012, at 10am, 2pm and 7pm.

As part of the theatre’s Open Stage project in which the public choose their favourite productions, audiences were asked which panto they would like to see on stage and the peoples’ choice, Cinderella won!

The theatre is remounting their Olivier-nominated Cinderella, but the creative team have decided to come back with a twist! If there’s nothing like a dame, why have one when you can have three? The Wicked Step-Mother and her two Ugly Sisters will all be men in frocks. There will be three times as many baddies to boo and hiss, so even more fun to be had.

The production is written by long-term writing duo Trish Cooke and Robert Hyman and features original music. Cinderella is a classic tale perfect for all the family, designed by Olivier Award-winner, Jenny Tiramani, former Director of Theatre Design at The Globe alongside Mark Rylance. This traditional Stratford East magical tale is directed by Kerry Michael (Artistic Director, Theatre Royal Stratford East) with Matthew Xia (Wild Child, Royal Court Theatre).

The cast features Stratford East’s favourites; Ayesha Antoine (BBC’s Holby City) as Cinderella and Craig Storrod as Prince Leo, Sandra Bee as Fairy Godmother with the three Dames played by Michael Bertenshaw as The Wicked Step-Mother, Darren Hart and Marcus Ellard as the Ugly Sisters, Stephen Hoo as Don Dini, Tony Jayawardena (BBC’s Moses Jones) as Baron, Stephen Lloyd as Buttons and Shelley Williams (West End’s Daddy Cool) as the Queen.

Cinderella plays at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, Gerry Raffles Square, Stratford, London E15 1BN from 3 December to 21 January. Tickets £6 to £22 from www.stratfordeast.com
