To kick off Music is GREAT Week celebrations

Melanie C will introduce Jessie J on stage at HMV, Oxford Circus

To kick off the recently-announced Music is GREAT Week, Jessie J will perform at the flagship HMV store, 150 Oxford Street on Monday 14th May. Spice Girl Melanie C will officially start the week and introduce Jessie onto the stage.

The Spice Girls performance of Who Do You Think You Are? at The BRIT Awards in 1997 appears on Music Is GREAT Britain, a DVD and download of iconic live moments which is released on the same day. The Who, Blur and Adele also feature on the DVD and download which spans three decades of unforgettable performances. All net profits will go to Save The Children.

Melanie C says, “We’re so good at music in Great Britain why shouldn’t we celebrate? We’ve produced some of the world’s biggest stars. I’m honored that the Spice Girls are on the DVD, that performance is by far one of my most memorable. I got such a buzz. Music is GREAT Week is about that buzz of a live gig. They are the best thing ever and we Brits are the best at it.”

Jessie J says: "I am super proud to be British and I have always loved repping the UK with my music. Its wonderful to celebrate music and I can't wait to kick off Music Is GREAT week"

Admittance to the performance is on a first come first served basis at the store. For more information head to www.facebook.com/MusicisGREATBritain

The performance is part of HMV’s partnership with Music is GREAT which also extends to a national poll to establish the greatest album and film of the past six decades, marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Votes can be placed via the Facebook page.

Music is GREAT Week will be the platform for fans and critics to debate what's GREAT about British music and the amazing experiences that go with it: What was the best live show you’ve been to in the UK?  Which gig did you camp out at the night before in order to attend?  What ticket did you covet the most?

Music is GREAT Britain is available on DVD and download from HMV, iTunes and Amazon .
