Emmy and Tony Award winning star KRISTIN CHENOWETH announces UK Tour
Tony
and Emmy Award winning Broadway star
KRISTIN CHENOWETH
to
perform in UK for the first time in over a decade on debut UK tour
For the first time in
over a decade, Kristin Chenoweth, the Emmy and Tony Award winning
Broadway star of Wicked and TV’s The West Wing, Pushing Daisies and GLEE,
returns to the UK, for one week only, in her debut UK concert tour.
Premièring at the
world renowned London Coliseum on Monday 11th March,
before visiting the Manchester Opera House on Wednesday 13th
March, Edinburgh Festival Theatre on Friday 15th March
and Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on Sunday 17th March,
the show is an eclectic mix of musical wonderment, reflective of Kristin
herself.
The
show includes material from the worlds of opera, pop and musical theatre,
songs from her celebrated albums, and music from the shows that have
made Kristin one of the most revered musical theatre actresses of
her generation. Her recent US tour garnered unanimous rave reviews in
every city it played, amassing enough superlatives to fill a book.
Best
known for originating the role of Glinda in the original cast of the smash hit
musical Wicked, Kristin
is one of Broadway's most celebrated stars, and has garnered a multitude of
theatrical achievements, including her Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winning
performance as Sally in You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, Eve
in The Apple Tree and, most recently, Fran Kubelik in Promises, Promises. As a
result, Kristin has become one of Broadway’s most sought after actresses. One
of her most unique accolades is having been invited to sing for President Obama, Her Majesty The Queen
and Oprah Winfrey.
Kristin has also carved
out an impressive TV career, including recurring roles as Annabeth Schott
in The West Wing, her
Emmy Award winning performance as Olive Snook in Pushing Daisies, and her Emmy nominated performance as
April Rhodes in GLEE.
The star has also racked up a number of high profile films alongside some of
Hollywood’s biggest names, and a huge cult following for a recent US TV series
called GCB.
The
evening is directed by Richard
Jay-Alexander, whose extensive credits includes concerts for
internationally renowned stars such as Barbra Streisand (including her
most recent tour), Bernadette Peters and Bette Midler, and the star-studded
Hollywood Bowl concert stagings of Les Misérables and Guys
and Dolls. Richard is probably best known for his ten years in North
America, working with Cameron Mackintosh and helming his North American
operation. This is the first time he and Kristin have worked together. The
results have proven stellar and this UK tour follows on the heels of sold out
US engagements, and will be her only European dates.
Conducting
Kristin’s UK tour will be the legendary Rob
Fisher, founding Musical Director and Conductor of the acclaimed Encores! series, at New York’s City
Center. In addition, her cast of singer / dancers – Tyler Hanes, Will Taylor
and Jennifer Diamond – are all of
Broadway pedigree, and the show promises many other surprises to be revealed on
the night.
Kristin Chenoweth's UK
tour is produced by Neil Eckersley for Speckulation Entertainment, and
directed by Richard Jay-Alexander with musical direction by Rob Fisher,
choreography by Tyler Hanes, sound and lighting design by Matt Berman and
featuring costumes from Ms. Chenoweth's closet! Yes, you read that correctly.
