JAMES ARTHUR tops a million sales and confirms label signing with Syco

X Factor Winner 2012
James Arthur
tops 1 million UK sales with debut single ‘Impossible’
and signs with Syco Music

As his debut single ‘Impossible’ surpasses the 1 million sales mark in the UK, X Factor 2012 champion James Arthur signs a recording deal with Simon Cowell’s label Syco Music.

"I am thrilled to be part of the Syco family, working with Simon and his team is exactly where I want to be. I can't wait to get into the studio to start work on my record!" , says James.

Released in December 2012, ‘Impossible’ went straight to number one, becoming the fastest selling single of the year. In just five weeks, it has gone on to sell more than 1 million copies in the UK and was yesterday nominated for the Best British Single award at next month’s BRIT Awards.

"Hitting the million mark in around a month is a fantastic achievement for James Arthur. X Factor winners often score strong first week sales, but to push through to the million mark so quickly is truly impressive." comments Martin Talbot, the Official Charts Company’s Managing Director.

Mentored by Nicole Scherzinger on the show, James wowed the country immediately from his first appearance - a spellbinding version of Tulisa’s ‘Young’. Having honed his craft from a young age, instantly memorable renditions of ‘The Power of Love’, ‘Let’s Get It On’ and Adele’s ‘Hometown Glory’ have cemented his status as a hugely promising and supremely talented musician.

Around the world artists discovered by The X Factor format have sold more than 100 million records, including 110 No.1s, 270 Top 10s, and 501 Top 50 releases.

Syco Entertainment is the world’s most successful producer of international talent with acts including One Direction, Little Mix, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, Il Divo, Cher Lloyd and Labrinth.
