Music Line-Up Revealed for Taste Of London Festival: 16-19 June, Regents Park London

Alexander Stewart

At 23 years of age, singer Alexander Stewart is already creating a buzz as one of the most precociously talented vocalists of the new generation. With a voice rooted in Connick and Sinatra as well as clever re-arrangements of great standards, he translates the occasional pop song into jazz as well as adding some originals to his sets.

He has performed at the legendary Ronnie Scotts jazz club in Soho and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Alexander is currently in the studio recording a new album which is scheduled to be released summer 2011.
Georgia Mancio

Mancio’s music is an intriguing reflection of her Anglo-Latino background: predominantly a jazz standards singer born and raised in the UK, her musical lineage goes back first to her Italian grandparents (an opera singer and concert pianist) and then to her Uruguayan great-grandmother, also a pianist.

Mancio’s 2003 debut album, Peaceful Place, was followed by Trapeze in 2008 and Silhouette in 2010.
Kate Threlfall

Kate Threlfall is a soulful young singer songwriter who incorporates a love of Jazz, Soul and many things in between in her honest and warm songs at the piano. Kate was raised learning the piano and cello, finding her love for singing around aged 8 when she was introduced to Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin and many more.

She has performed with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's 10 10 Contemporary Ensemble with beautiful arrangements of her own songs, conducted by Clark Rundell. Currently living in London, Kate can be caught regularly at The Regal Room, The Troubadour and The Elgin.
Katy Godfrey

Katy is an incredible vocalist, proficient in all genres including soul, funk, jazz and pop. Katy has toured Europe extensively with a dance band and had a top 40 UK single with a dance label. She is also a much sought after session vocalist having had years of experience recording for TV and radio commercials.

Currently Katy works with several bands and runs her own highly successful function band ‘Soulstar’.
Libby Shone

At only 24, Libby has already gained vast experience in the music industry. She has sung on various TV shows as a solo artist and backing vocalist for some of the top UK singers. Libby has gigged in and around Europe and the UK for the last 4 years whilst running two of the most successful London based function Bands, Replay and Replay Un-Plugged.

With her powerful soulful voice, Libby never fails to amaze audiences with her funky and unique style, creating an exciting and individual performance every time.
Louise Golbey

Louise Golbey is a gifted singer, songwriter and musician based in London. While she may be small, her sound is anything but. Her sound is a contemporary take on soul with a twist of jazz, and her unique voice and original melodies will have you captivated from the first note.

She has worked with artists including Omar, Vula (Basement Jaxx) and Kele Le Roc. Louise recently performed at The London Jazz Festival and is a regular performer at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and Jazz Café. Blessed with a genuinely soulful voice, she sets herself apart from her contemporaries. Louise Golbey is definitely one to watch in 2011.
Sarah Ellen Hughes

Award-winning vocalist Sarah Ellen Hughes has established herself as a notable presence on the London jazz scene and beyond. Sarah has recently released her first album: “Darning the Dream”.

Especially for Taste of London, the Sarah Ellen Hughes vocal group will present wellknown jazz and soul standards in exciting and daring harmonies. Featuring an unusual line-up of two voices and piano, this group explores the spine-tingling qualities of vocal harmonies.

Zarif is the future pop star who was once deemed – and this is a direct quote from Buckingham Palace – ‘possibly too funky for the Queen’.

While the rip and curl of her voice has a distinctively familiar feel, her production and beats are straight from the future. Festival dates have included Glastonbury, Bestival, Wireless, Global Gathering and Secret Garden. Zarif has also supported global superstars including Taio Cruz, Chris Brown and Beyonce. Zarif released her debut album ‘Box of Secrets’ in 2010.
