A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM to be performed in the spectacular Middle Temple Hall, London
Antic Disposition presents
When a handful of humans accidentally stumble into the magical realm of the fairies, the stage is set for a night of comical confusion in the moonlit woods. Can true love - and a little bit of magic - conjure up a happy ending before the sun rises?
A Midsummer Night's Dream, by William Shakespeare, is being performed in the spectacular Middle Temple Hall - the finest example of an Elizabethan hall in the country and the venue in January 1602 for the first ever performance of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.
A Midsummer Night's Dream will combine madcap comedy, lyrical poetry, evocative music and visual spectacle in an enchanting experience for the whole family.
A Midsummer Night's Dream will run for 10 performances from Friday 6 April (Good Friday) to Saturday 14 April.
Press night: Saturday 7 April at 8.00pm
Directed by Ben Horslen and John Risebero
Design by John Risebero
Music by James Burrows
Antic Disposition are returning to Middle Temple Hall following their sell-out production of The Tempest last summer, which marked the play's 400th anniversary.
Located in the secluded heart of London's legal quarter between Fleet Street and the Embankment, Middle Temple Hall was completed in 1573 and remains virtually
unchanged to this day. Antic Disposition's Dream offers a rare opportunity to visit and explore the cobbled lanes and quiet courtyards of this little-known area of the city.
Antic Disposition was founded by director Ben Horslen and designer John Risebero in 2005, and specialises in clear, imaginative productions of classic plays and stories. The company is used to creating theatre in unusual spaces – four earlier productions were staged in the magnificent derelict church, St Stephen’s, Hampstead, and each summer they tour a Shakespeare play around the stunning medieval villages of southwest France.
