Extra dates added for THE TRIAL OF DENNIS THE MENACE at London's Southbank Centre

Southbank Centre presents the world premiere of
THE TRIAL OF DENNIS THE MENACE

Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Friday 17 – Wednesday 22 February, 2012
part of Southbank Centre's Imagine Children’s Festival sponsored by The Book People

Beanotown is in crisis. Who stole the mayor's gold chain? Someone is trying to put the blame on Dennis and the grownups of Beanotown are declaring war on fun. We say the kids aren't guilty! Who's on their side? Children unite!

'Our streets are corrupted with glee. I say, no more! Dennis the Menace should be quaking in his trainers'  Mayor of Beanotown
'This is a travesty of justice! I'm writing to the government' Dennis The Menace
‘Dennis is a bogey’ Jon Snow
'Gnashing Gnash Gnash Gnashing Gnash Gnash'  Gnasher

Britain’s favourite comic, The Beano, is brought vividly to the stage in the Purcell Room at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with the world premiere of The Trial of Dennis the Menace as part of Southbank Centre's Imagine Children's Festival sponsored by The Book People. This is a new commission by Southbank Centre, in conjunction with publisher DC Thomson, written by award-winning poet Caroline Bird with music by composer Matt Rogers, directed by Rebecca Gatward, designed by Liz Cook with lighting design by Mark Jonathan.  Children from 7 to 97 can enjoy the antics of Dennis and co as they bring Beanotown to Southbank Centre.

The show stars Miltos Yerolemou, Alex Lowe, Dana Gartland and Heather Dutton in quick-change, rapid-fire mayhem at the Purcell Room (with a special on-screen role for renowned broadcast journalist Jon Snow, reporting courtroom events as they happen).  Staged within a glorious 2D set, the audience is invited to leap into the pages of the Beano and help fight this serious case of injustice. Beanotown is coming and they need your help!  Free Dennis!
