LILY SAVAGE to star in 'Aladdin' in purpose built theatre at London's O2 this Christmas
LILY SAVAGE
IS BACK TO MAKE A WISH COME TRUE
AT THE O2 THIS CHRISTMAS
(By Kind Permission of Paul O’ Grady)
From Friday 7 December 2012 until Saturday 5 January 2013 a truly unique and magical theatrical event will be taking place on the Greenwich Peninsula under the canopy of The O2. A purpose built 1900-seat theatre will host what Whatsonstage called “a classy panto” starring the inimitable Lily Savage as one of the greatest dames in pantomime, Widow Twankey.
Lily Savage who will be performing by kind permission of Mr Paul O’Grady had this to say: “Lily had such a great time playing Widow Twankey last time in Southampton that I am delighted she gets to have another go and that this will be in her very own, brand new purpose built theatre at The O2 – which will be filled with the magic of Old Peking!!“
Michael Rose Ltd, the Producers behind Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical, A Steady Rain and the last seven years of box office success each Christmas season at The Mayflower, Southampton will create a purpose built theatre within the canopy space of The O2 to include a proscenium arch stage and 1900 seats sitting alongside all the fabulous bars and restaurants of The O2’s Entertainment Avenue. This version of Aladdin will be based on the critically acclaimed 2010 production from The Mayflower with added magic and gusto for its premiere in the capital.
Michael Rose said “to have this opportunity to bring a Christmas production of this scale to London is a dream come true. Creating a purpose built theatre means we can focus on audience needs and ensure they have a fabulous time watching one of the great performers of our time in what is sure to be one of the most unique events of 2012”
