Steven Berkoff is to direct the World Premiere of his latest play, 6 Actors in Search of a Director, a comedy set on a movie location set, for a West End season at Charing Cross Theatre from Wednesday 16th May - Saturday 23rd June.

Six actors are on a movie set waiting for their call. Until then they are in limbo needing the director to bring them to life. He does this merely by using the one magic word - “Action!”

The cast includes Neil Stuke (last seen at the NT in Season’s Greetings; in the West End in Boeing Boeing and Entertaining Mr Sloane; and on TV in the drama series Silk as chambers senior clerk Billy) and Philip Voss (one of Britain's pre-eminent performers of Shakespeare, whose vast range of work with the RSC and The Sir Peter Hall Company has encompassed  Worcester and Lord Chief Justice in Henry IV, Pts 1 & 2 to Peter Quince in The Dream and Ulysses in Troilus & Cressida,  Malvolio in Adrian Noble’s Twelfth Night to Shylock in Greg Doran’s production of The Merchant of Venice); Andree Bernard; Sarah Chamberlain; Ruth Everett and Paul Trussell.

Writer and director Steven Berkoff has written this latest stage play based on his experiences of shooting more than 50 movies, including playing villains in the Hollywood blockbusters Beverly Hills Cop and Rambo and most recently co-starring in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo with Daniel Craig. He has directed and appeared in numerous stage productions and written original stage plays including East, Decadence, The Secret Love Life Of Ophelia, Massage, Acapulco, Brighton Beach Scumbags, Kvetch and Sit And Shiver.

Production Designer Nigel Hook’s West End credits Spread A Little Happines (Whitehall); Philadelphia, Here I Come (Wyndhams), Elegies For Angel Punks and Raging Queens (Criterion), Ferry Cross the Mersey (Lyric), The Boys in the Band (Aldwych) Party (Arts), When Pigs Fly (Arts), Forbidden Broadway (Albery), Pageant (Vaudeville) Steptoe and Son (Comedy) and Exonerated (Charing Cross Theatre).

Lighting Designer Mike Robertson received rave reviews and a Whatsonstage 2010 nomination for Best Lighting Design for his lighting design on On The Waterfront directed by Steven Berkoff at Nottingham Playhouse and the Edinburgh Festival, which transferred to the Theatre Royal, Haymarket. He was the winner of the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Lighting Design for the multi-award-winning production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George at the Menier Chocolate Factory which transferred to the Wyndhams Theatre.
6 Actors in Search of a Director is produced by Steven M Levy and Vaughan Williams.
