Cinderella set to dazzle the King's Theatre this winter
The King’s Theatre launched Cinderella
in true showbiz style yesterday with a celebratory Royal Wedding. Cinderella is set to be a must-see this
festive season with an all-star cast featuring King’s Theatre favourites.
Karen Dunbar returns to the
King’s for her fifth year in panto, reprising her role as Fairy Godmother like
no other. Stand Up and Capital
Scotland’s Des Clarke will be
Buttons in this his King’s panto debut. Former star of the UK tour of We Will
Rock You and runner up in the BBC’s Over the Rainbow Jenny Douglas also makes her panto debut in the title role. And
he’s back, where he belongs, Gavin
Mitchell is returning to the King’s to reprise his role as one half of that
awfy Ugly duo, a role that won him critical acclaim for his performance in
2008.
With a bro-mance set to rival that of TOWIE’s Mark Wright and James
Argent, King’s regular Steven McNicoll
takes on the role of Dandini while Kieran
Brown (who is currently performing in Wicked at the London Apollo) puts the
charm into the Prince. Panto stalwart John
Ramage returns to play Baron Hardup and we are delighted to welcome on
board Gordon Cooper (currently
touring in I Dreamed a Dream) as the other stoater of an Ugly Sister.
With over 100 years of Christmas experiences under its belt the King’s
Theatre pantomime will be like no other pantomime in the country and once again
promises to maintain the traditional family experience and all the elements
that go into making this the Godmother of all pantomimes in Scotland.
So, will Cinderella win the race against time before the man of her
dreams puts the wrong foot forward and declares his love to someone else?
You’ll have to wait until the clock strikes midnight to find out!
