Gig Review: Submotion Orchestra - Koko, London ✭✭✭✭✭

Submotion Orchestra
 Koko, London

Friday 12th October: Koko in Camden is such an impressive venue, the location was an ideal setting for Submotion Orchestra, a London/Leeds based seven piece group, who infuse dubstep and ambient electronica through to jazz and soul.

Submotion Orchestra are starting the headline tour through the UK with; Ruby Wood (vocals), Simon Beddoe (trumpet), Taz Modi (keyboard), Chris Hargreaves (bass), Tommy Evans (drums), Danny Templeman (percussion) and Dom Howard (engineer/FX) and they are set to make a big impact on the UK music scene. Koko was absolutely packed; everyone had clearly come to see something special.

The night was an epic display of music ability, with outstanding and chilling vocals from the lead singer Ruby. The music sways from relaxing ambient beats to floor vibrating bass lines.

Having newly released their album ‘Fragments’ in September, most of the songs on the night were from that album, with added treats from their older album ‘Finest Hour’. Some songs worth mentioning are; ‘It’s Not Me It’s You’, ‘Thinking’ and ‘Finest Hour’, however all songs were unbelievable, a great act to see live.

A great night, perfect atmosphere and amazing music, not a lot more you can ask for. I strongly suggest if you like the sound of an infusion of different genres of music, you try and see these guys live and if you can’t, get their album!
