Theatre Review: Le Gateau Chocolat – I ♥ CHOCOLAT - London Wonderground, South Bank ✭✭✭✭✭

Le Gateau Chocolat – I Chocolat

London Wonderground

What more could you want in a show? Great dresses, tight lycra, an attitude too big to share a stage and the most unbelievable voice. Le Gateau Chocolat is on stage at the London Wonderground and it surely is a performance not to be missed. Le Gateau Chocolat is an outrageous, larger-than-life, operatic star of LA Soiree and La Clique.

Le Gateau Chocolat takes to the stage to indulge the audience in a jammed packed hour of songs. Choosing a member of the audience to eat a chocolate from a box decides the song that will be sung on the night. We were treated to songs from Amy Winehouse, Madonna, Les Misérables, South Park’s ‘Suck on my salty chocolate balls’ and Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.

We got to hear Le Gateau Chocolat take on Les Misérables, brief versions of the songs featured in the movie/play and his take on the story. The funniest version of Les Mis I've ever heard.

My song of the night had to be the Ship Song originally performed by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, with this beautiful song you got to hear how talented Le Gateau Chocolat actually is, his stunning baritone voice was extremely suited to the gentle lyrics, simply stunning.

Yes this is a drag act, but it is in fact so much more than that, it is so easy to generalise a drag act, sometimes you feel if you've seen one you've seen them all, but with Le Gateau Chocolat he has the ability to keep you laughing and at the same time you’re given the opportunity to hear something truly unique. The show ended in a standing ovation and it was well deserved.

I would recommend everyone to see Le Gateau Chocolat at least once in your life, (I’m definitely going to see him again), an original act with a truly breathtaking voice.
