Gig Review: Tash Sultana - Scala, London ✭✭✭✭✭
Tash Sultana
Scala, London
Wednesday 28th June - "Enjoy the experience" Tash Sultana. In life and the gig was the general message of the evening. Have fun, enjoy the music and dont be a dick. By the looks and sounds of Scala on a Wednesday night the experience was in essence a trip of musical excellence.
Tash Sultana is an Australian artist and this is her first time performing in London, much to the delight of her UK fans. Sultana is loosely unknown in the mainstream sense of the UK music scene, however in the near future I think this may change some what, I hope she is ready for it, arena tours will be next on the adgenda.
A musical genius and I don't use this term lightly. With just herself and loop pedals, Sultana is a multi-instramentalist and she show cases this talent throughout the night. Every instruments she picks up she has mastered, maybe not in the conventional sense but in her unique way and it makes for outstanding sound and music.
Sultana performed songs from her EP Notion, including the massive single Jungle, Big Smoke. But it was not only recognised songs that were performed, we also just had music, simply Sultana showing us what she can do putting beats together in front of our eyes. Highlight when she brought to the stage a Saxophonist a couple of times throughout the night, equally as talented as each other.
Nearer the end of the show she was told me her manager that this was the best gig she'd ever done and I'm honoured that I got to witness.
I really look forward to her releasing her highly anticipated first album and hopefully getting to see her perform live again soon. And I suggest you all do the same. Best gig I've been to in a while, best gig definitely of 2017.
