The Old Vic's NOISES OFF Transfers to the Novello Theatre for a Limited Season

NOISES OFF

BY MICHAEL FRAYN
DIRECTED BY LINDSAY POSNER

TRANSFERS TO THE WEST END FOR A LIMITED SEASON
24 MARCH TO 30 JUNE 2012 THE NOVELLO THEATRE

Following its triumphant and universally acclaimed run at The Old Vic, Michael Frayn’s multi award-winning backstage comedy Noises Off will transfer to the Novello Theatre for a limited season from 24 March to 30 June.

Noises Off has been the highest grossing show in the history of The Old Vic Theatre Company, breaking weekly box office records during its run. This will be the first time The Old Vic Theatre Company has transferred a production to the West End.

Directed by Lindsay Posner, the West End transfer will see Jonathan Coy, Janie Dee, Robert Glenister, Jamie Glover, Celia Imrie, Karl Johnson and Paul Ready reprise their roles, with the characters of Poppy Norton-Taylor and Brooke Ashton to be announced shortly.

Kevin Spacey said: "I couldn't be more thrilled with the reaction of audiences to this production of Noises Off. It’s wonderful for The Old Vic to be transferring this production into the West End, giving many more people the chance to see Michael Frayn's brilliant play, and the fantastic company of actors that have brought it to life. It has always been our ambition to see our productions travel to other theatres so this is great news for The Old Vic."

Michael Frayn said: “I think congratulations are in order to everyone in our terrific cast, and to Lindsay Posner, who directed them. I hope they’ll be very happy in their new home”.

Winner of both Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best Comedy, Noises Off celebrates its 30th anniversary on 23 February. This much loved play serves up a riotous double bill - a play within a play. Hurtling along at breakneck speed it follows the backstage antics of a touring theatre company as they stumble their way through rehearsals to a shambolic first night and a final disastrous performance.
