Fresh from the success of his top ten single and album, X Factor finalist Marcus Collins will release his self-penned track ‘Mercy’ on June 3rd which is taken from his self titled debut album out now.
Marcus follows in the footsteps of pop-soul heavyweights such as Cee Lo Green and Bruno Mars as he unleashes this funky horn-laden up beat number about infatuation. He says:
‘No-one wants to see misery at the moment. Smile. Make people smile with you. And do songs that make people smile. We’ve never needed that more than at the moment.’
Marcus has co-written the majority of tracks on his debut album, which also includes bespoke covers including ‘Seven Nation Army’; ‘Your Love Is Lifting Me Higher’ by Jackie Wilson – one of his best performances on X Factor; and ‘Tightrope’ by Janelle Monae who is a huge inspiration to Marcus.
Friend and mentor Gary Barlow is executive producer and Marcus was also in the studio with Brian Rawling (David Bowie, Kylie, Girls Aloud).
