Oliver Tompsett and Sharon D. Clarke to join PRISCILLA'S IDOLLS Live at the Hippodrome 18th November

PRISCILLA’S IDOLLS

The IDolls
are bringing their brand of soul divadom to The Hippodrome on Sunday 18 November as part of the Live At The Hippodrome season.

Comprised of three powerhouse vocalists, The IDolls are Portia Emare, Emma Lindars and Charlotte Riby. A tantalizing trio of talent who first performed as one when they appeared as the Divas in the Whatsonstage.com Award-winning West End production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Since the group’s formation in 2010, The IDolls have been performing internationally and all over the UK at venues including the Kensington Roof Gardens, Home House, Hard Rock Cafe and the prestigious London Palladium. They performed at the sumptuous Dorchester Hotel for the Make a Wish Foundation’s Valentines Day gala and earlier this year they supported Brit Award nominee Rumer for the charity Love 146. At the request of TV personality Denise Welch (who is also their self confessed No.1 fan), The IDolls performed during the Ice Ball at Manchester’s GMEX.

Live at The Hippodrome will see The IDolls intimately stripped back to focus on their astonishing vocal abilities and magnetic warmth and charm. This eclectic set features material from the soul, disco, pop and theatrical genres including highlights from the musical Dreamgirls, classic anthems like Proud Mary & Chain of Fools, and some Whitney Houston thrown in for good measure.

The IDolls will be joined onstage by West End stalwarts Oliver Tompsett and Sharon D. Clarke. Oliver Tompsett most recently played the lead role of Drew in the original cast of Rock of Ages and will soon be starring as Galileo in the Queen musical, We Will Rock You. Sharon D. Clarke is a firmly established West End Diva herself. A prolific TV and theatre actress, Sharon found nationwide popularity when she played Lola Griffin in the BBC medical drama Holby City, and was most recently seen playing Oda Mae Brown in the musical adaptation of the film Ghost. The IDolls will be accompanied by Sean Green on piano. Sean Green is currently the Musical Director of the West End and touring production of Soul Sister.

Portia Emare recently returned from the Ljubljana Festival in Slovenia where she played the role in Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar. Charlotte Riby previously played the lead role of Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray opposite Michael Ball, and Emma Lindars originated the role of Mama Bear in the premiere cast of Dreamworks’ Shrek The Musical at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

The Live at The Hippodrome season is produced by independent theatre producer Nick Frankfort, Creative Director on behalf of the Hippodrome Casino (and formerly Executive Producer of the Donmar Warehouse), with Associate Programmer Neil Marcus. Named after the theatre’s original architect, Frank Matcham, The Matcham Room – permanent home to Live at the Hippodrome - will serve food and drink at booths, tables and balcony seats within the performance space.

The IDolls: Live at The Hippodrome is produced by Paul Spicer and Matt Firth for The List Agency. The engagement marks Paul’s return to theatrical producing since recently parting ways with Speckulation Entertainment, the West End production company he co- founded in 2008. The List Agency was launched earlier this month at the legendary Ibiza Rocks at Pikes Hotel in Ibiza.

Tickets are priced at £22.50 and customers will not be charged a booking fee.
