One Night with Joan

Leicester Square Theatre

Sunday 14th April: Joan Collins became a household name from her time on the popular US soap Dynasty, and with her new one-woman show, Joan goes about telling us fascinating stories from her early childhood to life as it is today.

This show is like having a stage version of Joan's wikipedia page, minimal set comprising of a large chair and telephone on a pedestal, with video screen showing clips from her film and television roles, commercial appearances, stories about her theatre roles, marriages, liaisons with the stars of Hollywood, anecdotes of working with Frank Sinatra amongst others, and her time of filming Dynasty and the fight scenes between Alexis and Krystle and a few bloopers thrown in for good measure.

The first half is all about the early days and how she got into the business, working for Rank Organisation, filming lots of B-Movies, getting tips from Marilyn Monroe and her rise to stardom. After the interval, it is more about her latest roles, her current marriage and various other stories of rags to riches. At the end is a quick question and answer session from the audience, one of which revealed that Joan would love to appear in 'Benidorm' if given the chance.

Not much else to say really, a nice pleasant evening sitting back, relaxing, drink in hand listening to some fabulous stories from the rather wonderful Joan Collins OBE.
